Where the equator crosses the Andes Mountains, embedded between Peru and Colombia, lies a small country. In an area half the size of France, we encounter three totally different climatic zones. Each has its flora and fauna, its people and cultures.
Ecuador has a wide range of protected natural areas, nature reserves and national parks. You can find them in all regions of the country and get to know its pristine flora and fauna. But the protected nature of the natural areas is often flouted; you will find in some “protected” areas, in addition to traditional Indian communities, villages of indigenes, haciendas and in some natural areas in the Amazon you will even find petroleum companies.
