GALAPAGOS ISLANDS
North Seymour

North Seymour

SURFACE:
469 acres

HIGHEST POINT:
92 ft (28 meter)

North Seymour is a small island just above Baltra (South Seymour). The island is full of low shrubby vegetation that appears barren and dry but flowers briefly in the rainy season. The island is home to large colonies of blue-footed boobies and swallow-tailed gulls. You will find one of the largest groups of frigate birds.

The hiking trail (2 km) leads you past several breeding grounds where blue-footed boobies (on the ground, sometimes on the path) and frigate birds (in the bushes) nest together. Here you can watch the beautiful pair dance of the blue-footed boobies.

Sea lions and marine iguanas sunbathe along the rocky, fish-rich coastline.
